We have been continuing to develop and evolve our processes and procedures in relation to managing key risks for the OPLM business. As part of that evolution, we co-hosted (with our property management partner JLL) a tabletop exercise for crisis management, which brought together 40 senior management attendees from our building management teams and representatives from multiple supply partners. This cross section of key operational stakeholders enabled a comprehensive and collaborative testing of our crisis management plans. In simple terms, how do our systems, protocols and procedures respond when put to the test? All OPLM buildings were represented, providing a holistic view of the organisation’s response capabilities.
Hosted by experts from Strategic Continuity, the session featured a live scenario simulating a major incident, allowing participants to test and refine their decision-making processes in real time. Additionally, the exercise served as a critical live test for our new emergency communications platform, assessing its effectiveness in facilitating swift and coordinated responses across all stakeholders.
Key lessons that were learnt included:
Incident management is a collective responsibility, and the TTX brings teams together to learn their roles in a controlled environment
Incidents can be quick to escalate or change direction and the TTX training gives teams the opportunity to experience and learn
The TTX training gives teams confidence and experience of agile decision making
Site documentation should be based on a bespoke site-specific risk framework not a generic template
It is critical to align with occupier business continuity plans to remove risk of gaps or clashes
A follow up event is planned for October, followed by 6 monthly sessions where we hope to invite some of our key occupier teams to join us.
